Roads of the Future in Grand Paris - Overview of proposals made by the four teams of the International Consultation

With its ambitious subject, its forward looking nature and large number of participants around the table, the International Consultation on Roads of the Future in Grand Paris -Les Routes du futur du Grand Paris- came to an end in October 2019. After many months of exchanging, work and exhibitions it enabled numerous proposals to emerge that optimise over 1,000 kilometres of the structuring road network in Ile-de-France and fight against the various types of pollution it produces.

The four selected, multidisciplinary teams (architects, urbanists, landscape architects, trafic and mobility experts…) were given the mission of addressing the four objectives to be reached by 2030 and 2050: to improve the working of the Ile-de-France road network, to reduce pollution linked to road traffic, to move towards motorways and dual-carriageways that are better integrated into the territories they pass through and to produce economically sustainable solutions.

This factual summary based on hundreds of pages of work and illustrations was carried out by APUR and the Paris Region Institute, under the  direction of Forum Métropolitain du Grand Paris. It endeavours to faithfully and objectively assemble the solutions proposed by the four teams :  l’Atelier des Mobilités, the collective Holos, New Deal for Roads in Grand Paris and the team SUN (Shared Utility Network).

It is also available for consultation on the internet site of the International Consultation http://www.routesdufutur-grandparis.fr/ where all the useful information of this unique approach to collective intelligence can be found.
