3,492 homeless people were counted during the 7th Night of Solidarity in Paris on 25th to 26th Janua

The Night of Solidarity enables a “snap-shot” to be taken of the number of people with no shelter in a specific area at a given time. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the profiles and needs of homeless people in order to improve responses. This count of the homeless is considered to be a minimum.

Since the first Night of Solidarity in 2018, the Paris Urbanism Agency - Apur -  has assisted the procedure in its preparatory stages, drawing up the survey maps, and analysing the results.
The 7th Night of Solidarity in Paris took place on the night of the 25th to 26th January 2024, mobilising nearly 2,000 people in the counting operation, both volunteers and professionnels and nearly 50 partner, non-profit making associations. 355 sectors were covered, as well as specific sectors (campsites, the Péripherique ring-road embankments, the Bois de Vincennes and Bois de Boulogne woods, carparks, parks and gardens, AP-FP hospitals, SNCF railway stations, RATP metro and RER stations).

3,492 homeless people were met in Paris during the Night of Solidarity on the 25th to 26th January 2024. This represents an increase of +16% compared with the previous Night of Solidarity on 26th January 2023 (+477 people).

The geographical whereabouts of the people met show they are present in all Paris districts with areas of concentration in: central Paris, the 12th district (including the Bois de Vincennes woods) and the 19th district where more than half the homeless people were counted (46%). The 8th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 16th follow (including the Bois de Boulogne woods), the 18th and 20th districts counted more than a hundred homeless people. Other districts counted fewer than a hundred  homeless people  on the night of 25th January 2024.
