On the occasion of his first visit to Europe Mr Phyo Min Thein, Chief Minister of Yangon, signed a friendship and co-operation pact with the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo on 24th August 2016. The aim of this agreement is to develop exchanges between the two cities primarily on the subjects of urban development and citizen participation.
In the context of this co-operation, Apur carried out workshops in 2016 linked to 3 themes: the challenges of an urban landscape and horizon line, regulatory tools and project management.
In 2017 and 2018, in the context of the Paris Yangon co-operation programme and with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD), Apur worked with Yangon Municipality on developing a pilot project to provide the city with a land use plan and construction regulations. This was called the “Zoning Plan”.
