Urban motorways and the dual-carriageway ring road Boulevard Periphérique, a possible future

The simultaneous publication of a number of works on the possible evolution of the main road system in Ile-de-France and in particular the Boulevard Périphérique, calls for memories to be jogged and views and approaches to be compared.

In this note, Apur proposes looking at the history and the future prospects of mobility in Paris and the Métropole du Grand Paris from 1957 to this day and reminds us of the major issues and changes underway: development and transformation of road infrastructures, a reduction in car ownership, the role and place of public transport, logistics, environmental pollution.
