Renovation of buildings constructed between 1945 – 1974 in Paris – Current practices, new challenges

Renovation of buildings constructed between 1945 – 1974 in Paris
Since the vote on the Climate Change Plan in 2007, Apur has been monitoring the solutions that have been used to renovate housing built between 1945 – 1974.
This study assesses the renovation practices carried out in the past few years in Paris and analyses eight thermal renovation operations in detail. The study gives an overview of the solutions implemented so that the knowledge acquired concerning thermal housing renovation practices can be shared. It specifies the environmental requirements that should be taken into account during the operations, in particular with regard to the reduction of the effects of urban heat islands and the adaptation of Paris to climate change. In conclusion, it puts forward some recommendations for greater economy in renovation projects in a post-COP21 context.
