The observatory of the Greater Paris -Grand Paris- station neighbourhoods project focused on Line 15 South in the first half of 2014 and on Line 16 in the second half. Six topics were covered: density, centralities, the urban and landscape environment, the demographic and social characteristics of the inhabitants of station neighbourhoods, mobility and public spaces, and the dynamics of construction and projects.
The two prongs of the observation were:
- A cross-analysis of all the station neighbourhoods along a particular line making it possible to compare the situation of each station neighbourhood one with the other.
- Monographs detailing the characteristics of each station neighbourhood and locating them in their immediate environment, not only in those communes affected by the arrival of the stations but also in the rest of the inner ring of suburbs.
The work of the observatory increases our understanding of these territories. The cross-analysis confirms the great diversity of situations observed in the station neighbourhoods. It supplies the facts necessary to manage the transformations and changes occasioned by the arrival of the Greater Paris Express Network -Réseau du Grand Paris Express-. It partakes in the help offered to decision-making processes of local authorities and key players affected by the Greater Paris Express Network - RGPE.
