Monitoring commercial changes on 56 Parisian shopping streets - BDRues 2012

A new BDRues survey of street level businesses was run, In June 2012, on 56 shopping streets which were picked out by a panel put together by the City of Paris, the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Apur. A census was taken of almost 11.300 premises, 9.900 of which were occupied by shops and  services companies, that is to say 88%.

The format of the present note will replace previously written reports; it will give the 2012 field survey results in summarised way.
The principal elements revealed by this survey are that,  on the one hand the number of premises surveyed on the 56 shopping streets has stabilised, and on the the other hand that there has been a halt in the number of premised left vacant (-9 units). Looking more closely one can observe a slight decrease in the number of shops and services companies (-6 companies) and among them home furnishings shops (-7 shops) and personal services  and agencies (-27). Inversely, there is a growing number of shops linked to health and beauty (+17 companies) and an increase in food shops (+15 shops). After a marked rise  of vacant premises in 2011 one can note a stabilisation of their numbers, shown by a slight decrease (-9 inits).
