Low cost housing (HBM) on the outskirts of Paris - La Ceinture -: a historical study

HBM housing on the outskirts of Paris - La Ceinture- was built between the two World Wars. These social housing buildings lie along 17 km of Paris’ boundary, that is to say approximately half the distance of the - Ceinture -.  In the context of Paris’ climate plan objectives, the renovation of these building complexes is a strategic issue. The Apur study draws up an inventory of this housing stock which was built before 1940 and brings answers to the recurring questions posed by project managers and project supervisors on the urban, architectural and construction quality of these housing complexes. This historical work is the first part of a series of two Apur studies on the question of HBMs. It will be followed by work on the issues of thermal retrofitting of the HBM stock.
