Inventory of Parisian green walls: mapping and typologies

Inventory of Parisian green walls: mapping and typologies
Since 2015 Apur has participated in the National Research Agency’s project “Ecoville” which looks into the new spaces and surfaces where biodiversity can be established in the city. Apur’s involvement focuses mainly on setting up an exhaustive inventory of the vertical greening that exists in Paris.
State of progress: January 2017
Through this unprecedented work approximately 30 hectares of greened walling have been recorded and pre-sented in the form of maps. This greening is for the most part the product of private initiatives and is to be found in Parisian inner courtyards. Facades overlooking public areas are, however, very rarely greened. Public space is perceived by inhabitants as being a restricted area where it is not possible to carry out greening pro-jects.
This completed study will be published at the end of 2017.
