A high number of jobs connected with transport
The future Grand Paris Express Line 17 will connect Saint-Denis-Pleyel station with Mesnil-Amelot. The 27 kilometres of the line will have stations in nine neighbourhoods with very different demographic and economic profiles. In 2012, there were 101,000 people employed in the station neighbourhoods along this line, of which three quarters were located in two terminals (T2 and T4) at Charles de Gaulle Airport and in Saint-Denis-Pleyel. A large number of the jobs in these districts are in transport, light industry and support, in particular in the five furthest to the north. The southern section runs through densely populated areas, mostly residential apart from Saint-Denis-Pleyel. This neighbourhood has a dense economic fabric offering numerous job opportunities for senior executives. Over the last fifteen years, the property construction industry has been very dynamic in this neighbourhood, mostly in office buildings.
The Grand Paris Express (GPE) Line 17 will serve nine stations to the north-east of Paris, from Saint-Denis Pleyel to Mesnil-Amelot, of which three will also be connected to the future Line 16 (Saint-Denis Pleyel, La Courneuve “Six Routes” and Le Bourget RER). This new transport network will by its nature alter the economic fabric of the neighbourhoods accommodating these stations, so it is important to understand their current characteristics before being able to measure the impact this network will have.
