Based on the exploitation of the latest data provided by the Data Department of Statistics and Studies (SDES) - this note analyses the main quantitative elements by type of vehicle (private or commercial) in each territory and municipal commune as well as car ownership figures in order to reveal the main trends in changes on a metropolis scale.
The 2023 data confirm the changing paradigm in terms of the role of cars in the metropolis.

However, it should be noted that the SDES figures have not been finalised, and that the reintegration of vehicles which were late in passing their roadworthiness test could marginally modify the figures given, without however challenging the main trends observed. Finally, the progress in engines powered by new energy sources (particularly electricity) continues, although they remain largely in the minority in the present day.
