The number of inhabitants in all GPE station neighbourhoods amounts to 21% of the population of the Greater Paris, Métropole du Grand Paris. These neighbourhoods have been undergoing enormous changes with numerous urban projects taking place and the population increasing in some of them. On average there has been a 3% rise in the population in the 68 neighbourhoods, compared with a 1% rise in the Métropole du Grand Paris as a whole.

Increases in the population are closely linked to the construction dynamic. The population rose over 10% in neighbourhoods benefiting from an intense construction dynamic between 2008 and 2012. This is the case, for example, in many station neighbourhoods along line 15 south: Pont de Sèvres, Fort d’Issy — Vanves – Clamart, Issy RER, where neighbourhoods have been extremely affected by major urban projects.

In 2015, each neighbourhood had on average 700 more inhabitants than in 2010. In 2010 the 68 GPE station neighbourhoods totalled 1,410,000 inhabitants compared with 1,454,300 in 2015.

A little over half of the Metropolis’ demographic growth took place in the 56 station neighbourhoods located within it.

Finally, an analysis of average incomes brought to light the wide income disparities within station neighbourhoods. Better-off households (Saint-Cloud, line 15) have monthly incomes per consumption unit that are 3 times higher than the most modest ones (Clichy-Montfermeil, line 16). More generally, inhabitants of the 68 station neighbourhoods have lower monthly incomes per consumption unit than those in MGP (1,965€ /CU compared with 2,201€ /CU in the Metropolis).
