“Inventing Grand Paris” Conference – A comparative look at metropolises from 1970 - 2000

“Inventing Grand Paris” Conference 2016
The International Conference “Inventing Grand Paris” will take place on December 1st – 2nd 2016, at the Paris Belleville School of Architecture.
This year, the conference will review the last fifty or so years from the end of the 1960s, a period of strong growth and large urban development projects, until the start of the 21st century, when a new cycle began marked by the re-launching of the concept of Grand Paris and a new set of problems relating to our times.
Urban, social, political and economic challenges facing the construction of metropolises will also be addressed in the light of the current state of affairs in the Paris region.
This Conference is part of the multi-year research programme into the history of Grand Paris which has developed a transnational and inter-disciplinary approach. Study and discussion days during previous conferences brought to light the first Grand Paris development and organisational projects dating from the beginning of the 20th century and the Delouvrier years.
Apur has supported the “Inventing Grand Paris” International Conferences in its role as a partner since 2013.
